Where Your Donation Goes
We are an AANHPI-led nonprofit that does something most housing organizations cannot: we design, finance, and build every project through our affiliated WMBE general contractor, Jabooda Construction. This eliminates the 8-12% contractor margin that typically makes deeply affordable housing financially impossible.
That means more of every dollar reaches the families who need it. Your donation supports our pipeline of new permanently affordable homes across Rainier Valley, Judkins Park, and Tacoma's Lincoln District.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
- Yes. Jabooda Cares is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN 99-4589825). Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive an automatic tax receipt via email.
- Who benefits from affordable housing at 30 to 50% AMI?
- In Seattle, 30 to 50% of Area Median Income means a household earning roughly $29,000 to $48,000 per year. This includes veterans transitioning out of homelessness, foster youth aging out of the system, seniors on fixed incomes, and working families.
- What makes Jabooda Cares different from other housing nonprofits?
- We are one of the few nonprofits that develop and build our own projects. Our affiliated WMBE general contractor eliminates the external contractor margin, making 30 to 50% AMI projects financially viable without additional subsidy layers. All affiliated transactions are board-approved and independently certified.
- Can I set up a recurring monthly gift?
- Yes. Our donation form supports one-time and monthly giving. Monthly gifts provide steady, predictable support that helps us plan and execute our housing pipeline.
